For the Young at Heart

Just one more post about earrings and then I’ll move on. I simply couldn’t resist putting together a couple of earring designs for the very young ladies on my list. I hope that you will find that they fit the bill for your special girls, too. These are exclusive Tikanchay designs; a delightful collaboration between me and one of my favorite artisans, Sonia. She took the sketches I had made and brought them to her workshop where they were improved upon with her special touches, like the colorful spondylus beads that she chose as accents. I brought back a limited quantity of each style so if you like them, swoop down and order because I’m not sure I can get more before Christmas. By the way, I’ve seen these silver earrings on my sister Robin since they made it into the Artisan Silver Jewelry Collection…she loved them for herself too, proving that they are just as nice for the young at heart.

I hope you don’t mind that I spend some time talking about the silver earrings in our Tikanchay collection. I’ve decided that I have to spend a few consecutive posts pointing out the different styles that we chose with Christmas in mind. I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of gifts to buy each year and there seem to be many more females in my family than males, perhaps to my husband Alberto’s dismay on some days. (Four daughters, need I say more?)

Of course, all of the artisan silver jewelry in our collection has a special place in my heart since I associate each design with a particular artisan and experience, but choosing earrings for Tikanchay is one of my favorite parts of the job. I get to stand in one spot and pretend that I’m going to an evening soiree, in which case the black pearl drop earrings are perfect. They are diminutive and yet they always get noticed! Maybe it’s because they look so elegant when you wear them? A whisper is better than a shout sometimes.

Then, I’m imagining my 21 year old daughter and what would light up her eyes…the silver swoop earrings made it right into the Collection.

Yes, they are more of a shout but she’s 21! The photograph really doesn’t do justice to the way these earrings fall and sway.
