Some of the pieces in our Peruvian jewelry collection feature sodalite, which is a semi-rare dark blue stone that is often either mistaken for or used as an imitation of lapis lazuli. But there’s more to this beautiful gem than meets the eye. It is known for its reported ability to bring harmony and balance to life. We choose each artisan bracelet and necklace for its remarkable beauty and the quality of its workmanship. The fact that many believe that sodalite promotes inner peace, clarity and learning, by balancing out the rational and intuitive sides of the brain, is just a little icing on the cake as far as we are concerned. I thought that the design of these beautiful swinging orbs and the deep blue color of this sodalite necklace were reason enough to add it to our collection, but I was really pleased the first time that I wore it here in the U.S. We were attending a local Bluefish game and the parking attendant, a strapping young man who was directing the cars in the huge outdoor parking area, stopped me not just to complement me on the necklace but to ask WHERE he could buy one for his girlfriend! Of course, I gave him my card and didn’t even bother telling him all the rest of the qualities that sodalite jewelry is renowned for: improving group communication and decision making, reducing confusion, helping the physical body by improving endurance, aiding in weight loss, and soothing panic attacks. Hopefully his girlfriend will find out all of those things for herself, but even if she doesn’t the necklace will make a wonderful and lovely addition to her wardrobe.
